Topics of Interest
E2SDS welcomes presentations from researchers and practitioners working on distributed systems that consider energy efficiency in their design, deployment, and operation, and contributions to advance sustainability in this field. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Energy-aware and energy-efficient algorithms, protocols, frameworks, software architectures, and middleware
- Green data centers and cloud infrastructures
- Strategies for reducing energy consumption in the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud, edge, and fog computing
- Practices and patterns for developing distributed systems concerning energy efficiency
- Metrics, tools, and methodologies for measuring and analyzing energy consumption in distributed systems
- Application of Machine Learning techniques for energy management in distributed systems
- Analysis of the impact of energy efficiency in distributed systems
- Balance between energy efficiency and performance, scalability, reliability, dependability, privacy, security, and cost-effectiveness of distributed systems
- Proofs of concept, concrete cases, experiments, and exemplars showcasing successful implementations of energy-efficient and sustainable distributed systems
- Challenges and opportunities in designing, implementing, evaluating, and using energy-efficient and sustainable distributed systems
Preparation and Submission Instructions
Authors interested in presenting their work at E2SDS must submit an extended abstract with a maximum length of two pages (including text, figures, tables, and other relevant elements, but excluding references), written in English, using the two-column IEEE's Manuscript Template for Conference Proceedings for which a LaTeX template is available on Overleaf. Each extended abstract must at least introduce the context and motivation for the work, outline key ideas and insights, and highlight contributions. Submissions can also present preliminary findings, lessons learned, open problems from specific applications, or novel ideas and perspectives for future research, not being mandatory to bring fully consolidated research results. The submission may also link to a longer version or additional material available elsewhere. Authors must submit their extended abstracts electronically in PDF format via the EasyChair system.
Submitted extended abstracts will undergo evaluation through a lightweight single-blind review process, so the first page must include author information. Evaluation will primarily focus on the interest and relevance of the submission to the E2SDS scope, as well as its soundness and presentation quality. If any conflict of interest arises concerning a submission, an ad-hoc reviewer will conduct an external evaluation.
At least one author of each accepted extended abstract is expected to present the work at E2SDS, either in person or remotely. Accepted abstracts will be made available online, allowing attendees to familiarize themselves with the works in advance and encouraging meaningful discussions during the colloquium.
